The owners of a bazaar will be allowed to keep the business open later in the run-up to Eid.
Jasvinder Singh had applied for permission to change the closing time of Bradford Bazaar on Cemetery Road from 8pm to 10pm on four evenings each year – the two days before Eid-al-Fitre and Eid-al-Adha.
The application followed an unsuccessful attempt to change the closing times on these days to midnight – an application refused by Bradford Council in January because of the impact on neighbours.
But the new closing times found favour with planning officers. They said the changes would only see the business opening an extra two hours for just four nights a year. Their decision adds: “It is considered that the 10pm closing time would not be so late into the night as to excessively compromise nearby residents' reasonable expectation to quiet late evening enjoyment of their property.”
