South Craven people are being urged to consider becoming foster carers.
North Yorkshire County Council says there is an urgent need for more recruits.
It said that last year more than 400 children were fostered, but about 50 new carers are required to meet demand.
The recruitment campaign is being held to tie in with national Foster Care Fortnight.
“Our foster carers are incredibly important to us,” said County Councillor Tony Hall, North Yorkshire’s executive member for children’s services.
“They make an enormous contribution to improving the lives of children and young people.
“We hope the campaign will help clear-up some of the misconceptions that people have about fostering.”
