A Nigerian national has been sentenced to six months in prison after trying to use a Somalian girl’s documents to get a job in a bakery.
Olawale Ogboola, 28, of Shetcliffe Lane, Bradford, used the resident’s permit along with his Nigerian passport when applying for a job at Speedibake in February, the city’s Crown Court was told yesterday.
But when the company had the documents checked it revealed Ogboola was using the wrong document and he was arrested and charged with possession of an identity document with intent – an offence he admitted at an earlier court hearing.
He has been in the UK since 2001, but was only given a six month visa at the time. Appeals for permanent visas have been unsuccessful.
Judge Peter Benson sentenced him to six months in prison.
