A revolutionary day of cycling fun with the chance to win fantastic bikes takes place in Shipley this Saturday in honour of the Tour de France.
The Allez Shipley event, which is inspired by the Grand Depart in July, kicks off at 11am with a treasure hunt for three bikes from local experts Ellis Briggs cycles.
Through the day there will be family entertainment with Kevin's Community Circus, Chicks on Sticks, Golden Bike Statue, a unicyclist and balloon modelling.
And on two wheels will be penny-farthing rider Micky Bimble and circling cyclist Monsieur Le Tour.
Chairman of Shipley Business Partnership Barry Cooper helped organise the event, which is backed by Bradford Council.
“It should be a magnificent day,” he said. “Although the Tour de France doesn't pass through Shipley directly we wanted to celebrate and encourage everyone to get cycling.
“And what better way then to give them a new bike?
“The bike hunt runs over several weeks so there is plenty of time for people to get involved in the fun.
“We’ve worked with local schools, businesses and community groups to create our own mini Tour de Shipley and I am sure it will be a great event.”
Clues to help win the bikes will be hidden in shop windows and a free entry form for the competition can be picked up from local shops and businesses, Shipley Library and the town hall.
People just have to follow a walking route and find at least 26 cycle scenes displayed in numbered shops.
They then list the town, village or city name the Grand Depart will be passing through to stand a chance of winning one of the Ellis Briggs Cycles bikes.
The competition will end on Saturday, June 21.
