Two schools have teamed up to create new nursery classes for two-year-olds in what is believed to be a first for the district.
Neighbouring schools Horton Grange Primary and Farnham Primary, in Great Horton, have joined forces to run the new facility at a nearby children’s centre.
The remodelled Farnham Road Children’s Centre now boasts the ‘2s Can’ area, complete with toucan logo, which will accommodate 56 two-year-olds. Half of the children will be classed as pupils of Horton Grange and half will be Farnham Primary.
Horton Grange deputy head teacher Sarah Fuller said while other local schools were developing provision for two-year-olds, this project was unique.
She said: “We would like to continue these links and to develop them even further because we are just so pleased with what has happened already. Hopefully it will be very successful.”
The new classes began yesterday. Bradford Children’s Services assistant director George McQueen was one of the special guests at an open day on Friday.
