Silsden Town Council is looking into taking over the running of the town’s public toilets.
Chairman Chris Atkinson is leading efforts to keep the block in Bridge Street despite Bradford Council cutbacks.
Silsden is teaming up with neighbouring Addingham Parish Council to look at working together to save on running costs of the communities’ two toilets, which are among several earmarked for closure due to cuts in public spending.
Town and parish councils are being encouraged to discuss whether they could take over the public amenities.
Coun Atkinson said his members felt it was their duty to investigate running the toilet block, which is in the car park of the Punch Bowl pub
