A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman’s body was found under an empty car.
Police are now appealing for information after the grim discovery in Cleckheaton.
The woman, who has yet to be identified, was spotted under a vehicle in Prospect Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police and paramedics were called at 12.03am to a report from a member of the public that the lifeless body of a woman had been found under a parked and unattended Vauxhall Omega car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 57-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit and released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor, Senior Investigating Officer, said: "This investigation is in its early stages and we are still establishing the circumstances of the incident.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Prospect Street around this time who has any information which could aid the ongoing investigation."
Information can be passed either to West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services (Crime) department on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
