A new community educational facility has been opened at a Bradford firm.

Yesterday, The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Khadim Hussain, officially opened the room at the Canal Road premises of Associated Waste Management.

The facility can accommodate community and school groups and demonstrates the high level of technology used to recycle the district’s waste. Pupils at Frizinghall Primary School have created artwork for the education room.

Educational courses have been designed with the National Curriculum in mind and address topics such as maths, English, science and technology.

As well as activities which include interactive video, work sheets and waste audits, visitors can also see first-hand how AWM divert waste from landfill by producing refuse-derived fuel.

AWM group marketing manager Mike Robinson said the on-site room had been created as part of AWM’s commitment to engaging with and supporting community initiatives.
