Window shoppers may have got more than they bargained for when browsing in the city because ‘old people’ were offered for sale with 50 per cent off.
In the lead up to its production, Home Sweet Home, Bradford theatre company Freedom Studios explored the perception and reality of what it means to be older person in Britain in a 45-minute show called Pensioner Warehouse.
The group took over a unit in Oastler Shopping Centre and remodelled it as a shop that sells older people.
The work, from Freedom Studios Associate Director Tom Wright and designer Hannah Sibai, was inspired by biomedical research about how our bodies and minds age, with the support of a WellcomE Trust Arts Award.
Pensioner Warehouse will next be at the centre again today from 1pm until 4pm. Tickets for Home Sweet Home, which runs from April 1 to 5, are now on sale. Visit freedomstudios.co.uk.
