A 14-year-old girl’s affair with a man in his 30s left her pregnant and in Council care, a jury at Bradford Crown Court heard.
Abid Miskeen says he believed the teenager was 16 but he attended her 14th birthday party, the court was told. Miskeen, 32, of Little Horton Lane, Bradford, denies sexual activity with a child over an eight month period.
Prosecutor Gerald Hendron told the jury yesterday Miskeen and the girl were in a relationship and he “knew full well” she was under age.
It is alleged the teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, “had strong feelings” for Miskeen and he had sex with her.
Mr Hendron said police investigating the relationship searched for the girl one night but could not find her. At close to midnight, she and Miskeen were discovered at a house in Bradford. He was watching television and drinking cider.
He was arrested and the girl made the subject of a Police Protection Order and put into local authority care. Miskeen was bailed while inquiries were made.
Mr Hendron said DNA evidence pointed to a sexual relationship between the pair. While the girl was at a children’s home, she was taken ill with stomach pains and discovered to be pregnant. The trial continues.
