Bradford takeaway owners are being urged to sign up for masterclass cooking lessons to help improve the district’s health.
Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ Nutrition and Dietetic service has joined up with West Yorkshire Trading Standards to show the district’s takeaway bosses how subtle changes to the way they cook their food can help improve the health of their customers.
Two nutrition master classes have been set up for the takeaway cooks at Jacob’s Well, Nelson Street, Bradford, on Tuesday, March 18, at 12.30pm and Keighley Health Living Centre, 13 Scott Street, on Friday, March 21, at 9.30am.
Principal dietitian at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Clare Gelder, said: “While many of us enjoy good takeaway food it’s important that we help local businesses to do more to promote healthy eating choices.
“These two master classes will be interactive and will be based around the key principals of healthy eating and nutritious foods.
“Takeaway owners will get the opportunity to discover how simple techniques can help them reduce the fat, salt and sugar in their food over a two-hour, free training session.”
The master classes are part of Bradford Council’s Good Food Award, targeted at food outlets in an effort to promote healthier choices.
