Licensee Karen Ward is swapping Cullingworth’s crossroads pub The Flappit to take to the water down in Bingley.
She and husband Jeremy Lund are moving from the moor top to run The Fisherman’s Inn, which sits right beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
After two successful years making The Flappit one of the area’s most popular pubs, Mrs Ward said they were ready for a new challenge.
“We’ve really enjoyed being up here and made some nice friends, but it felt right to make a change.”
And so they are leaving the pub which is owned by Bradford City joint chairman Mark Lawn and heading for the Enterprise-owned Fisherman’s.
“The Fisherman’s was previously a fantastic pub and has got a great location right beside the canal,” Mrs Ward, 50, said. “We hope to get plenty of trade from those on boats or people walking or cycling beside the canal.”
She will be helped to get the pub on its feet by her daughter Lisa, 24, a part-time barmaid.
“It’s been through a few changes, but we really want to return it to its former glory,” Mr Lund said.
