Staff at a Keighley school plan to honour the Grand Depart by staging a “Tour de Keighley”.
Katie Wynn and Steve Gott, two cycling enthusiasts who work at Holy Family Catholic School, plan to hold the event for pupils this summer.
Katie said: “Arrangements are still a bit sketchy as we’re gauging the response, but we may run three separate gold, silver and bronze courses for the different skill levels.
“Initially we just created a course on the map, from Long Lee down into Ingrow, across Bracken Bank, into Oakworth then Laycock, Braithwaite and home to a finish at Cliffe Castle. But because of the interest from novice cyclists we’re also looking at a couple of easier courses.”
The mini Tour will take place during the school’s activities week, which is held at the end of public exams in the summer term.
