The jury in the trial of internationally renowned concert pianist John Briggs was today set to hear him deny all the allegations against him from the witness box at Bradford Crown Court.
Briggs, 65, of Little Lane, East Morton, was expected to begin giving evidence in his defence this morning, at the start of the second week of his trial. He pleads not guilty to ten allegations involving two piano students and three former members of Keighley Sea Cadets. The nine charges of indecent assault on a male person and one of indecency with a child cover a 25-year period beginning in the late 1960s.
So far, the jury has heard from the five complainants, now grown men, and members of their families.
On Friday, the jury was read Briggs’ police interviews in which he said all the allegations against him were completely unfounded
