A Bradford man, accused of the murder of his young wife, voluntarily surrendered to police, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Danish Irfan, 22, was arrested at Manchester Airport earlier this week and was charged with the murder of 21-year-old Ridda Zanab at their home in Alford Terrace, Lidget Green, on November 3 last year.
The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, fixed a provisional date of July 28 for a one-week trial, with a plea and case management hearing scheduled for May 2. He remanded Irfan in custody until the next hearing, on March 14.
Prosecutor Jonathan Sharpe said Irfan had arranged to give himself up.
Irfan’s barrister, Yunus Valli, asked for as much information as possible be provided by the prosecution at this stage to help in advising the defendant.
