An impersonator of The Great Impressionist ‘Oddball’, played by Donald Sutherland in the classic film Kelly’s Heroes, is among the highlights at this year’s Yorkshire Wartime Experience.
The popular show, which takes place on fields in Hunsworth Lane, Hunsworth, Cleckheaton, over the weekend of July 5 and 6, is one of the country’s largest military showcases featuring more than 100 miliary vehicles and about 27 re-enactment groups.
Organiser Stuart Wright said he was also expecting a Dakota to put in an appearance on the Sunday for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast.
The show, which gets under way on Friday, July 4, when local schoolchildren will be invited to be part of the experience, will also mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with displays of horses used in battle and other re-enactments.
