A man arrested for his suspected role in a cannabis factory was stopped by police just days later for dumping drug-growing equipment – because he was in the doghouse after an argument with his mother.

The man was one of four arrested and bailed after a cannabis farm was discovered in Bradford Road, Frizinghall, on February 8.

Four days later police were called to an incident of fly tipping on Redburn Drive in Shipley, the site of the former Heaton Royds Special School.

After inspecting the rubbish, officers noticed it contained equipment associated with a cannabis factory.

Putting two and two together, PC Cath Elder (pictured) visited the Bradford Road house where they found the factory just days earlier and saw a man about to leave the property with a car full of rubbish.

Officers stopped the 43-year-old, who admitted the offence and was subsequently reported to Bradford Council. PC Elder said: “It later emerged that the man had been told by his mother, who owns the property, to clear it out as punishment, so he was in her bad books too.”
