People might have spotted more than the usual number of police cars out and about yesterday.
Every police car in West Yorkshire was out on the road to ward off burglars and travelling criminals.
The show of strength saw West Yorkshire Police deploy all its marked vehicles, including those usually only used on football match days and others used to train police drivers.
Superintendent Pat Casserly, who is leading the operation, said they wanted to show their love for catching criminals this Valentine’s Day.
He said: “We are attracted to criminals all year round, but more so during Operation Venom, and we want to make sure they’re not lonely this Valentine’s weekend.”
It is the second time in a month this tactic has been used. Last time, burglary rates fell by a third across the county.
