A Bradford MP has given his support to lowering the voting age from 18 to 16.
David Ward, who represents Bradford East, joined the British Youth Council and UK Youth Parliament yesterday to help highlight their Votes at 16 campaign. Mr Ward (Lib Dem) met Bradford teenager David McIntyre (pictured with the MP), who has worked with the British Youth Council and UK Youth Parliament, to discuss the campaign. He also spoke about his commitment to the lowering of the age limit. Mr Ward said: “I am committed to working to give the vote to 16 and 17-year-olds. It seems completely unreasonable and illogical that 16 and 17-year-olds can pay taxes and serve in the armed forces, but are denied the right to vote.”
