Police have appealed for witnesses after a 60-year-old woman had her handbag snatched in Scholes, Cleckheaton.
The victim was walking on Greenway when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her handbag.
After a brief struggle, the man made off on to Whitechapel Road but dropped the bag after two members of the public intervened.
The suspect then fled on to Turnsteads Drive.
The man was white, in his mid to late 20s, 5ft 11ins and of medium build with a lopsided mouth. He was wearing a grey woollen peaked hat, a grey jacket and grey bottoms.
Anyone who saw the incident between 1.30pm and 1.40pm on Tuesday or can identify the attacker should contact Huddersfield CID on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
