A 22-year-old quad bike rider who jumped a red light, mounted the pavement and went the wrong way down a one-way street has been sentenced for dangerous driving.
Anthony Winter, of Crosley Wood Road, Bingley, dodged past a patrol car and sped off up Moorhead Terrace, Saltaire, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
He went through red lights and a No Entry sign and rode along the pavement for 100 yards before stopping the bike on Albert Road.
Prosecutor John Bull said Winter ran off but was caught and arrested.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop and riding the bike without insurance or a licence on the afternoon of January 4.
Winter’s solicitor Mohammed Hussain said he only intended to ride the bike on approved sites but he was having problems with the chain and drove it to a friend’s house so he could look at it. He had no previous convictions and drove only a short distance after being ordered to stop.
Winter was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with 200 hours of unpaid work, and banned from driving for 12 months.
