A swing band which broke away from Bradford Music Services to become self-financing two years ago is to hold its first dance at Ilkley’s Winter Garden.
The Two Rivers Swing Band has doubled in size since its first paid gig and now performs for weddings, birthday parties, beer and food festivals and has raised significant sums for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Philippines Disaster Relief fund from its concerts.
The band is now branching out into something entirely new, in hosting its first dance at the Winter Gardens in Ilkley at 7.30pm on Friday, February 28.
Band chairman Owen Wells said: “We are having to add waltzes to our normal programme of music from the big band era, made famous by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and the like. We also play jazz ballads, and some rock ‘n’ roll to liven matters up.”
Tickets for the dance cost £7.50 and are available from the Grove Music Shop and Ilkley Visitor Information Centre.
