Kirklees Council should allocate £3 million to build a new sports centre in the Spen Valley by 2016, according to Liberal Democrat councillors.
The Lib Dems are proposing an alternative budget to the Labour-run council’s proposals that would provide money for a replacement to Whitcliffe Mount in Cleckheaton – which will shut in two years’ time.
The budget will be set next Wednesday at a meeting in Huddersfield Town Hall.
