The governor of a Bradford school who sided with residents objecting to a 30ft fence installed without permission says he is astonished planners are being recommended to approve it at a meeting tomorrow.
Residents of Eversley Drive, overlooking Carrwood Primary School, Holme Wood, who want the netting and steel post fence in front of their homes to be pulled down, are being backed by Councillor John Ruding (Lab, Tong), a serving governor at the school.
Coun Ruding said he had advised the school to find an alternative to the eyesore fence but was ignored.
A report from planning officers is urging Bradford Area Planning panel to approve the fence, saying the visual impact on nearby homes is “very minor”.
Coun Ruding said he would be speaking on behalf of residents at tomorrow’s meeting. “The residents are right, it’s hideous,” he said. “I would not want it outside my home and I’m sure those planning officers and panel members would not want it outside theirs either.”
