A night-time call that a car had been stolen from a Bradford address led to police discovering two people had been stabbed.

Residents of Upper Seymour Street woke yesterday to find a stretch of the road cordoned off and several police officers patrolling the area.

Police had been called at 9.20pm on Sunday to a report that a black Audi A3 had been stolen. At the scene they found a 23-year-old woman with stab injuries to her arm. An ambulance was called and she was treated at the scene.

They then found out that a man, 29, had attended Bradford Royal Infirmary with non-life-threatening stab wounds. His condition was described as stable and he remained in hospital overnight before discharging himself yesterday.

After being treated at the scene, the woman was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

Police were last night still searching for the vehicle that was reported stolen and there was a police cordon in place for much of yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Rob Worley, of Bradford District CID, said: “At this time, the vehicle, a black Audi A3 remains outstanding and Bradford District CID are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information regarding the car or the incident.”
