A convicted drug baron has been recalled to jail for a second time in 12 months for dangerous driving after smashing into five parked vehicles on a car chase across Bradford.

Naveed Butt, 36, was re-released on prison licence in July after being jailed for four months in March for speeding along Leeds Old Road, Bradford, in a white Audi and hitting two cars.

At liberty for six months, he took a Mitsubishi Shogun without permission on New Year’s Day and was pursued by the police from Killinghall Road along narrow cobbled back streets.

Bradford Crown Court was told yesterday Butt struck a parked vehicle on Marchbank Road and swerved on to Barkerend Road, forcing other drivers to swerve to avoid him.

He lost control of the Shogun and hit a line of parked vehicles, damaging four of them.

Butt, of Folkton Holme, Fagley, Bradford, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and driving while disqualified.

He was sent back to prison after he was arrested.

He told the police he panicked after taking his brother’s vehicle without permission.

Butt’s barrister, James Bourne-Arton, said he would not be released until the Parole Board had met to discuss his case.

Butt was imprisoned for 15 years at Bradford Crown Court in 2002 for wounding with intent, kidnap, false imprisonment, making threats to kill and conspiring to supply Class A drugs.
