A teenager was high on cocaine and alcohol when he robbed a 17-year-old of his phone after watching a Bradford City football game.
Joshua Watson, 19, of Grove House Drive, Bolton, Bradford, was with two other young men when he targeted the youth in the street at 8pm on October 26, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
They blocked their victim’s path and Watson ordered: “Give me that phone. I just want to bang you.”
He lunged at the youth who handed over the £300 phone.
Police traced it to a property on Pemberton Drive, Great Horton, Bradford, and it was returned to its owner.
Watson, a sheet metal worker, admitted robbery and possession of a small amount of cannabis.
He had been drinking at the time of the robbery and told police he had taken cocaine and could recall nothing about it.
Watson’s solicitor, Ashok Khullar, said he was hard-working and capable of leading a law-abiding life. He and his partner were expecting their first child in April.
Judge Colin Burn sentenced Watson to 11 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay 750 costs.
The judge warned him he would be locked up if he committed another similar offence.
