Bradford East MP David Ward joined pupils at Idle Primary School to hear and judge their debating skills.
He was one of two judges at the school’s annual debating competition – the topic of which was ‘Should 11-year-olds sit national tests?’ It was also a chance for the young children to meet their MP and ask him about his role in Parliament.
Mr Ward (Lib Dem) said: “It was great to see so many young children getting really stuck into real issues that affect them and talking with such passion and eloquence. It was very impressive.
“There were some definite budding politicians in the debates so I might have to watch out in the future.”
