Airedale Hospital is putting on two open events to help it find new public governors to join its NHS Foundation Trust.
The first ‘Everything You Need to Know’ event isat the hospital on Thursday, February 13, between 1pm and 2.30pm in Room 2 of the Education Centre and will be repeated on Thursday, February 27, between 5.30pm and 7pm in the seminar room.
The events will include information on the role of the governor, standing for a seat on the Council of Governors, the election process and give an opportunity to ask questions and meet staff including the Chairman,Colin Millar and some of the current governors.
Staff will also be on hand to explain how to fill in a nomination form and refreshments will be provided.
Governors have an important role to play and act as a link between the hospital Board of Directors and the public.
Colin Millar, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Most people become governors as they are interested in putting something back into their community.
“Their role is to make sure the non-executive directors account for the performance of the Board by asking the right questions and considering reports on how the trust is working.
"They also represent the interests of the public and members so need to devote time to finding out what they think.”
