Bradford’s Classic car festival will be bigger and better this year thanks to three brothers from the city.

Tony Bhogal and his siblings, Nicky and Paul, who have been car enthusiasts since they were boys growing up in Bradford, have been announced as sponsors of the popular event.

The trio have recently developed a passion for classic cars – a passion shared by colleagues at their firm Autoelectro, an independent re-manufacturer and supplier of starter motors and alternators in Bradford.

The firm has made the sponsorship commitment as part of a strategy to increase the company’s profile in the automotive aftermarket within Yorkshire and across the UK.

And staff from Autoelectro – many of whom are classic car owners and restorers – will get involved by showing their 1978 Mark II Ford Escort rally car and 1969 Camero Z28.

Tony Bhogal said: “This is a very exciting development for Autoelectro.

“Heritage is very important in our market and this event will help us to enhance our profile among car parts retailers and suppliers.

“This is also an opportunity to give something back to the city where we have prospered.”

For Bradford Council, the sponsorship helps to enhance the event by bringing in new skills and resources.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, the Council’s portfolio holder for Employment, Skills and Culture, said: “We are delighted to receive support from such a successful local business for what is always a very popular event.

“Bradford has a long automobile heritage and it’s therefore great to see that we still have Bradford companies working successfully in that industry today.”

The Bradford Classic and Performance car show will be staged in the City Park on Saturday August 16.
