Bradford Council is offering a free nutrition training class for takeaway staff, in a bid to promote healthy eating.
The local authority, in partnership with West Yorkshire Trading Standards, is working with the Bradford Nutrition and Dietetic service on the Good Food Awards, a free scheme which is targeting food businesses as part of a Government call to action on obesity.
Takeaways will be able to achieve a Good Food Award at either Bronze, Silver or Gold level. Trading Stan-dards will work with food outlets to increase the number of healthier menu options available, improve knowledge of catering practices, and raise awareness among consumers of healthier lifestyle choices.
Two sessions will run in the Bradford district, at Jacobs Well on Nelson Street, Brad-ford, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday, March 18, and at Keighley Healthy Living Centre, Scott Street, Keighley, from 9.30am to 11.30am on Friday, March 21. To book a place, call Julia Hall, project officer, on 0113 393 9813 or at jhall@wyjs.org.uk.
