A Cullingworth butchers has completed a ‘gold rush’ after winning eight top awards for its produce from ten categories in a regional meat trade evaluation event.
Ellisons Butchers came away with gold awards in all but two categories at the BPEX North-East region pork products excellence awards.
The Halifax Road shop struck gold with some of its most popular lines – small pork pie, Scotch egg, dry-cured bacon chop, thin pork sausage, thick pork sausage, Toulouse-style pork sausage, Cumberland sausage and sausage roll, the first time this had been entered in a competition.
Ellisons’ two other submissions – dry-cured back bacon and pork, and its apple and sage burger – both picked up silver awards.
Butcher John Ellison said: “It’s our best-ever performance in the event.”
