Northern Ballet has taken its production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to China.
The company, which has Bradford dancers, is the first British cultural organisation to tour in the country following a new cultural agreement between the UK and China by Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Maria Miller and Chinese Minister for Culture, Minister Cai Wu.
Northern Ballet has performed the show at venues in Xiamen, Guangzhou and Beijing.
The tour, which follows Prime Minister David Cameron’s trade envoy to China in December, involved three containers of sets and costumes which left in October on a six-week voyage by sea.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will tour areas of the UK on the company’s return.
