The founder of pharmaceutical company Galpharm has been appointed patron of Brighouse-based charity Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund.
Professor Graham Leslie, who was responsible for making ibuprofen available as an over-the-counter medicine, said he was delighted with his new role.
“I am delighted to become patron of the Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund and to support the work they are achieving to ensure essential research on kidney disease,” he said.
“The charity has helped researchers to produce internationally-renowned results and I am proud to be involved with such an organisation.”
Prof Leslie devotes a large amount of his time to supporting a number of charities and has recently created with his son Craig, the Leslie Sports Foundation which is developing to ensure that the whole community in Kirklees can be involved in and enjoy sport.
