The firm which runs the Eccleshill NHS treatment centre in Bradford has pledged to put dignity right at the top of its agenda.
Care UK has unveiled a new privacy and dignity policy to mark national Dignity Action Day tomorrow.
Secondary care medical director Cath Finn said: “This is an incredibly important subject as it goes right to the core of proper patient care, particularly when you are dealing with the more vulnerable members of society.
“Our policy is not a ‘lip-service exercise’.
“It has been produced after an extensive review of how we operate and of public engagement to see what is expected by patients.”
The new policy includes a commitment to respect the privacy, dignity, ethnicity and diversity of all patients, as well as a duty placed on staff to report any incidents where this guidance hadn’t been met.
She said staff will be handing out flowers to patients tomorrow, along with questionnaires asking patients what dignity means to them.
