Saltaire’s Live Room has a busy weekend of acoustic music coming up, featuring bands from Scotland and America.
On Friday, February 7, Roddy Woomble, frontman of cult band Idlewild, brings them to the club.
Currently on sabbatical, Idlewild released seven acclaimed albums, two of which had their debut in the UK Top Ten. They have toured the world as a headline act and as support to bands such as REM, U2 and the Rolling Stones.
Roddy has released three solo albums and one with Kris Drever and John McCusker. His latest album, Listen to Keep, features 11 songs written and recorded with his band on the Isle of Mull.
On Sunday, February 9, hot new American band the Stray Birds arrive on their first UK tour. Playing a blend of country and bluegrass, Maya de Vitry on banjo, violin and guitar, Oliver Craven on violin, mandolin and guitar, and Charles Joseph Muench on double bass create beautiful original songs and perfect harmonies.
