Morrisons is celebrating its biggest and most successful charitable partnership after its efforts for Save The Children raised £7 million.
The money raised by the Bradford-based supermarket will help fund the charity’s UK and emergency work in communities where the retailer operates.
Launched in 2011, the partnership was extended from a charity of the year to run for three years.
Morrisons staff and customers raised money and hit a record-breaking total in the final year of the partnership.
In 2013 Morrisons became the largest supporter of Save the Children’s work in the UK.
The money raised is funding the charity’s Families and Schools Together programme.
The partnership is also funding Save the Children’s crisis grants programme, Eat Sleep, Learn, Play!, for families with young children struggling to provide the basics such as beds and cookers.
Morrisons chief executive Dalton Philips said: “I am so proud that Morrisons colleagues and customers have raised an incredible £7 million for Save the Children since 2011 as part of our Raise a Smile partnership. It has been a fantastic partnership.”
