A teacher is celebrating the publication of her third maths-based murder mystery book.

Jill Whieldon, who teaches at Prince Henry's Grammar School, Otley, came up with the idea of creating thriller stories that the reader can use number-skills to solve a few years ago. Her first two books sold well at schools across the country and Jill is hoping her third, the primary school-focused Junior Mini Mathematical Murder Mysteries, will prove just as popular.

She said: “Many pupils find themselves as possible suspects among the pages. They provide an alternative to endless tests whilst also encouraging children to use mathematical language and logical thinking.”
