Cyclists have raised more than £900 to thank the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which came to their aid on an ill-fated ride.
Andrew Mayes said the group of 13 cyclists he was part of had to call for help after an accident in the Yorkshire Dales last summer which resulted in Wendy Shur being injured and Jim Sweeny knocking himself out.
“An ambulance was called and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, attended. After the paramedics had stabilised Jim on a spinal stretcher both Jim and Wendy were taken to Airedale hospital where they both made a full recovery,” he said.
The majority of the party are clients of Commando Fit based in Roberts Park, Saltaire. In December, members took part in an adventure triathlon.
Mr Mayes, who works for Pace International in Saltaire, said: “We decided that as the YAA service is funded solely by donations we would do our bit to pay back the help.”
