Young people from across Bradford will get a rare insight into how the justice system works when they take part in a mock trial competition.
Held in the city’s magistrates court on March 8, the National Magistrates Court Mock Trial competition sees pupils take on the roles of lawyers, magistrates and court officials. Their efforts will be judged by magistrates.
Taking part in the heat are Beckfoot School in Bingley, Belle Vue Girl’s School on Thorn Lane, Whitcliffe Mount Business and Enterprise College in Cleckheaton, and Moor End Academy in Huddersfield.
The winner will go on to the regional final in Leeds in May.
The teams use witness statements to prepare the prosecution and defence for cases.
High Sheriff of Yorkshire, Virginia A Lloyd will be the guest of honour at the Bradford heat.
