Menston Parish Council has called on Bradford Council to reject plans for 134 houses on land at Bingley Road in the village.
The council has told Bradford Council there are “fundamental flaws” in the plans and said the authority must reject the planning application by Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire unless it is prepared to ignore key elements of a supplementary planning guidance document.
It said: “The parish council is concerned that the surface water drainage issues highlighted by Professor David Rhodes, Menston Action Group, Menston Community Association and ourselves have not been addressed to a point that would alleviate the fears of the residents regarding future flooding.”
The local council also questioned the proposed layout of the development, design of the houses and housing types.
Many Menston residents have written in objecting to the detailed planning application. Outline planning permission was granted last year.
