The head of Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College, one of the schools that saw the biggest jump in performance, has praised his students and staff for turning the school around in only a few years.
In 2008, 20 per cent of its pupils achieved five or more A* - C GCSEs, including English and maths, but last year that figure was 47 per cent.
And results jumped by ten per cent in a single year, leading to the school shooting up local league tables.
It is now ranked 22nd, compared to 36th last year.
Headteacher Richard Hughes said: “We are delighted to be a significant part of the continuing improvement in Bradford schools and particularly pleased for all the students and staff who have worked so hard.
“We have come a long way, but there is still a way to go.
“Nevertheless, there is an impressive determination here to ensure that our student experience continues to improve.”
