Politicians didn’t get cold feet when they were asked to support a campaign to donate socks for homeless people in Bradford.
Councillors were asked to dig out unwanted pairs to back The Socks on the Street campaign at a full council meeting.
The initiative, run by Bradford-based Homeless Beanies, started in December and so far around 300 pairs have been collected.
Juli Thompson of the organisation said: “Just before Christmas we noticed that people were really struggling. They need socks because if your socks get wet it’s not very nice to have soggy feet. But for homeless people, it’s not just an inconvenience, it can cause trench foot.” Donate new socks by emailing ben@innchurches.co.uk or calling 07833 450482.
