The Bradford branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association has its annual Peace Conference this weekend. The conference, which will be held on Sunday at the Al Mahdi mosque in Rees Way, Undercliffe, is aimed at bringing together people from different communities and faiths. The theme of this year’s event is based on Blessed Are The Peacemakers and will be urging people to work for peace.
More than 400 guests are expected on the day from national organsiations as well as private, voluntary and business sectors. The chief guest will be businessman and Conservative member of the House of Lords, Lord Tariq Ahmad who will be bringing a special message for Bradford, said Dr Mohammed Iqbal who is chairman of the Bradford branch of the association. Other guests will include Bradford MPs Gerry Sutcliffe and David Ward and Bradford-born TUC president Mohammed Taj.
