Youngsters at a Riddlesden school have been taking part in a road safety initiative with Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Six pupils at Riddlesden St Mary’s Primary accompanied PCSOs Alan Cooper and Chris Wardle on a speedwatch patrol in nearby Bradford Road.
“This was not an operation where we were looking to catch speeding motorists and fine them,” said PCSO Cooper.
“It was to teach children the dangers of the road and to judge the speed of vehicles, and for them to be able to use the results in lessons like maths.
We found the results obtained can be used by the children to do such as bar charts.”
He added: “The children were very well behaved and a credit to their school.”
