A man wanted for criminal damage was quizzed by a PCSO after the officer stopped the bus after spotting him.
The Great Horton man was spotted by PCSO Mohammad Farooqi, who was travelling to work by bus. He saw the man spitting on the ground on Clayton Road and recognised him as a man known for persistent spitting in public. He knew he was wanted regarding an alleged incident of domestic-related criminal damage. The officer stopped the bus and detained the man, who was questioned over the offence.
Sergeant Graham Smith said, 'PCSO Farooqi has demonstrated excellent local knowledge. Even while travelling on public transport they are alert to their environment They even know what habits our local offenders keep.”
