Police activity to catch burglars in Haworth parish has paid off, according to an update given to councillors.
Sergeant Chris Watson, of Bingley and Worth Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, delivered the update to Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.
He said officers deployed a significant amount of resources to tackle a rise in house burglaries during November and early December last year.
“We got some very good arrests during late December and into the Christmas period, resulting in remands or prison sentences,” he said. “I’m pleased to say that this does mean matters have improved over the last few weeks and we’re now back to normal.”
He said anti-social behaviour remained at a low level in the area and instances of non-dwelling burglaries, motor vehicle theft and assaults had declined in 2012/13 compared to figures for the previous year.
