Bradford Council has announced that it had suspended the commissioning of any new contracts to a homecare agency prior to its criticism in a Care Quality Commission report published last week.

Claire Meade Care Ltd, which trades under the name Caremark Bradford to offer personal care and support services to vulnerable people across the district, has been issued with two formal warnings by the care watchdog for “unacceptable” failings in essential quality and safety standards.

Paul Hunt, of Bradford Council, said: “Claire Meade Care Ltd currently has a relatively small number of contracts to provide domiciliary care services.

“The Council took the decision, prior to the commencement of the Care Quality Commission investigation and subsequent report, to suspend the commissioning of any new contracts and to review existing care services delivered by Claire Meade Care Ltd to service users.

“The Council continues to work with Claire Meade Care Ltd and has devised an action plan highlighting specific areas for development.”
