Five men have been quizzed after armed police stopped and searched two cars in Barkerend, Bradford, following reports that someone was seen brandishing a gun today.
Police received a call at 12.05pm informing them that a group of men had been seen exchanging money and a bag. The caller also claimed to have seen one of the men pull a pistol from the bag.
Armed officers and a police helicopter were immediately sent to the scene and the police stopped two vehicles, a Volkswagen Golf and an Audi in Leeds Road.
Five men were temporarily detained while police searched the vehicles, but no weapon was found.
A police spokesman said: “No weapons were found and no offences were disclosed by the search. Inquiries are ongoing. After receiving the call we automatically sent armed officers to the scene.”
