A Bradford Council street cleaner who had been off work with stress got in his car to take his dog for a walk after drinking three quarters of a bottle of brandy, a court heard yesterday.
Arthur Dobson, 58, was stopped by police after they saw his Fiat Brava swerving across the road and mounting the kerb, in Halifax Road, at 10.30pm on January 6 this year, Bradford and Keighley magistrates were told.
Dobson, of Fenwick Drive, Woodside, Bradford, was found to have 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
Dobson admitted driving over the prescribed limit. The court heard he had only travelled 200 yards when he was stopped. He was fined £210, with £85 costs and a £20 victims surcharge, and banned from driving for 23 months.
